About the only things of interest were the beautiful windows and some of the tiles around the fireplace. W's death and they haven't made an attempt to find any of the furniture. The house itself is just a crazy place with very little furniture as the place was emptied after Mrs. There's a lot of walking up and down stairs - we were told at the end that we had walked a mile. But I had read other reviews stating that the tour guides were like robots and I believe them. The tour guide we had was only employed there for 3 weeks.and it was obvious. Second, the place is not air conditioned, so I would not advise a tour on a warm, sunny day. The mansion tour was 65 minutes - to take both tours you would need 2.5 hours. To be fair, we only took the mansion tour and can't report on the behind the scenes tour which might have been interesting.

The tour group was loud and chaotic and we were rushed from room to room so they could get through as many tours in the night as they could. They hype up the "Ghost" aspects of Winchester during October (Jeff Dyer was there signing his haunted places books when we were there.) but the tour guide couldn't tell us a single ghost story about the place when asked. The tours were so close together that we often turned corners to find another group crossing right in front of us. There was a huge group of young boys (Scouts maybe?) in our tour who were allowed to yell, run around, and flash their lights in peoples eyes. a person, we got the exact SAME CANNED SPEEL as the day tour from an obviously exhausted and bored tour guide. Tonight, we took the Flashlight Tour, only offered in October. It's a great place to take my out of town guests.- Those tours enjoyed very much, even if hearing the samed canned speel gets wearing after the first time.
